In August 2018, President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, arrived in Kololo for a private marriage ceremony.

A small number of cars in the presidential motorcade was allowed inside the premises of the president’s host.

Museveni and Janet listened to speeches from 10:00am till late.

However, at around 1:00pm, Museveni led his wife to the Hymer motorhome.

Ugandans on social media refer to the service van in the presidential as a “mobile toilet”.

Research conducted by ChimpReports shows that what actually looks like a “mobile toilet” is a “mobile home” with state-of-the-art facilities.

It’s in the spacious and elegant Hymer Home that Museveni and Janet preferred to have their lunch.

A source at State House said the vehicle is characterised as a mobile toilet “because people see the President using it for short calls while in the field. But it’s more than that.”

The luxury vehicle in the presidential motorcade is modified as required with communications and security.

The interior of the Hymer boasts a modern, fresh and classy design that conveys both a feeling of openness and a generous sense of space. For Museveni who prefers to stretch his long legs, this was a perfect choice.

It also has spacious floor compartments, cabinets and storage compartments.

The vehicle has a chic and spacious kitchen.  A larder unit in the kitchen area provides a safe and clear storage option for bottles and taller items.

This means Museveni’s favorite dishes can be prepared along the way, enabling him to have his meals and tea on time.

The 153-litre Jumbo refrigerator keeps the president’s drinks safe and cool and opens from both sides. The President doesn’t take alcohol. The refrigerator can be used to keep his water.

A high level of sleeping comfort is guaranteed in the Hymer thanks to various bed options – from a generous transverse bed to comfortable twin beds or even a regal queen-size bed.

The Hymer comfort sleeping system includes a high-quality disc-spring bed frame to ensure precise counter-pressure for every part of your body, helping to ensure a pleasant and restful sleep.

Insiders say Museveni sometimes takes a nap in his official vehicle. Rarely does he use the Hymer for naps.

The vehicle also has a comfort bathroom or a spacious en-suite bathroom which the President can use to freshen up at any time of his choice. It also has a hot water heater as standard.

Individual temperature adjustments and the boost function for fast hot water supply and room heating – can be controlled via the central LCD control panel for the heater, also equipped with a timer. This helps Museveni who likes washing his hands all the time.

Whether on the move or stationary, you will always enjoy a clear and rich sound throughout your Hymer motorhome – and not just from the loudspeakers of the TV. This is made possible by special integrated speakers in the vehicle’s living area and rear section, which meet all acoustic requirements.

But most importantly, the vehicle impresses with its harmonious interior design. Thanks to a new lighting concept, the interior looks roomier and more spacious.

“It’s heaven on earth,” said a source who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity to speak freely. “The interior is really presidential. It’s as good as a presidential suite at a five star hotel.”

The vehicle boasts numerous driver assistance systems which ensure the highest levels of safety and perfect handling.

It has an innovative and unique SLC chassis with a level upper floor for greater driving stability and comfort thanks to independent wheel suspension.

The vehicle costs over $135,000 (approximately Shs 500m).
